This Serengeti hot air balloon flight safari itinerary is a 7-day tour that will take you from Tarangire National Park, UNESCO World Heritage sites Serengeti National Park, and Ngorongoro Crater we will take a hot air balloon flight to explore the central Serengeti otherwise Seronera area and the accommodation will be in the tented camps or Lodges depending on your choices
Day 1: Arrival Day
You will be picked up from Kilimanjaro International Airport and taken to your hotel in Arusha for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Serengeti national park
Serengeti National Park, a World Heritage Site designated by UNESCO, is home to around 200,000 zebras and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelle which join in with the annual migrating herds of wildebeest in search of fresh grazing land. Our experienced driver tour guide will provide you with interesting facts about this highly renowned event, which makes Tanzania one of the top safari destinations in Africa. Overnight will be as per the standard and type of accommodation option requested.
Day 3: Explore Serengeti national park
Serengeti National Park has spectacular scenery, especially during the Wildebeest Great Migration which normally starts from late June to September and goes around depending on the nature of the climate. If by chance you view the migration while on your balloon this will be a memorable safari adventure in Africa. Sometimes it is possible to witness predators such as lions, leopards, or cheetah hunting prey such as antelopes or zebra. Overnight will be as per the standard and type of accommodation option requested.
Day 4: Serengeti National Park Hot Air Balloon Safari
You have the option to do an early morning balloon safari at Serengeti and this will be followed by another game drive at Serengeti National Park. The balloon safari starts at dawn, around 6:30 am, when you will be transferred by our safari vehicle from your accommodation to meet your balloon and pilot in the central Serengeti. At the end of the flight enjoy a champagne celebration after landing in the African bush. After the celebration each participant will be awarded a certificate of ballooning in Tanzania followed by a bush-style continental breakfast before continuing with your next safari activity.
Normally the balloon takes about eight passengers, children under 7 are not allowed and there is no limitation of the above age as long as you are fit. It is wise to contact your doctor at home if you are having back problems before attempting this safari as when landing most of the time you will experience bumping. Conditions are generally favorable year round in Serengeti and flights are available throughout the year depending on weather.
Day 5: Ngorongoro Conservation area game drives
Game drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, passing through Olduvai Gorge to the site of the Leakey family where 50 km of fossils were discovered from almost two million years ago. Overnight will be as per the standard and type of accommodation option requested.
Day 6: Ngorongoro crater game drives
Early morning game drive in Ngorongoro Crater, the ‘eighth wonder of the world’ and UNESCO World Heritage site one of Africa’s best wildlife arenas. With a unique biosphere that has remained virtually unchanged since the dawn of time, thousands of large mammals can be found here including elephants, rhinos, and lions. Overnight will be as per the standard and type of accommodation option requested.
Day 7: Ngorongoro crater - Tarangire NP - Arusha
An early game drive at Tarangire National Park which is famous for its elephant migration and big baobab trees. As this park is slightly off the main safari route, many travelers leave it out in favor of the nearer ones, which leaves major parts of Tarangire untouched. We will head back to Arusha in the afternoon where you will be dropped off at your hotel or the airport for your onward flight.
