Itinerary for The Wonderful 7-Day Selous - Mikumi - Udzungwa Safari Tour
Day 1: Selous Game Reserve
After arriving at Selous Game Reserve (now Nyerere National Park) you will be taken on an afternoon boat safari along the Rufiji River – enjoy hippos, crocodiles, and birds. In the evening you will have dinner and overnight at a lodge/tented camp inside or near the reserve.
Day 2: Full-Day Game Drive in Selous
Early morning, you will take a game drive to spot elephants, lions, wild dogs, and giraffes. Lunch at a picnic site inside the park. Continue game drive in the afternoon, exploring diverse landscapes. In the evening, you will relax at the lodge/camp with a scenic sunset.
Day 3: Walking Safari & Transfer to Mikumi National Park
In the morning you will embark on a guided walking safari with a ranger to explore the bush on foot. then have breakfast at the lodge before departing for Mikumi (6–7 hours by road). Arrival at Mikumi in the evening, with sunset viewing near the lodge/camp.
Day 4: Full-Day Safari in Mikumi National Park
After early breakfast, you will go on a full-day game drive. Exploring the Mkata Plains, famous for lions, zebras, wildebeests, and elephants. Then visit the hippo pools and watch birds near the seasonal lakes. In the evening, ytou will return to the lodge/camp for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Mikumi – Udzungwa Mountains National Park
In the morning, you will take a game drive in Mikumi (optional) before heading to Udzungwa (2-hour drive). After arriving at Udzungwa Mountains, you will be checked into a lodge, and have lunch. In the afternoon, you will visit to the local village or explore nearby waterfalls. Relax and prepare for the next day’s hike.
Day 6: Udzungwa Hiking & Waterfalls Excursion
Full-day trekking to Sanje Waterfalls (one of the tallest in Tanzania). Enjoy stunning forest views and possible sightings of rare primates. Swim in the natural pools at the base of the falls. Return to the lodge/camp for dinner and rest.
Day 7: Udzungwa – Dar es Salaam
Breakfast at the lodge and optional short morning hike. Depart for Dar es Salaam (6-7 hours by road) or connect to another destination. End of the tour.
