Come, and witness, the greatest wildlife spectacle on Earth while enjoying a fantastic birding experience surrounded by wild animals. Tanzania is an excellent birding destination, and our 6-day birding tour is designed specifically for birders with limited time who want to find as many of Tanzania's near-endemic birds (including the one true endemic) as possible. Tanzania has almost 700 bird species, including one true endemic and 15 near-endemics, as well as numerous other spectacular species. This tour can be tailored to your target list. Let's go birding!
Itinerary for 6-day Tanzania Bird watching holiday
Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
Arrive in Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport, meet our guide/driver, and transfer you to the hotel for dinner and overnight ready for tomorrow's safari tour
Day 2: Tarangire National Park
In the morning, we will head straight to Tarangire National Park for a day of bird watching, big game viewing, and photography. The park's landscape is truly breathtaking, adorned with enormous termite mounds, ancient baobab trees, and golden savannah.
With a year-round water supply, the park boasts an abundance of wildlife, making it a true haven for nature enthusiasts. For bird lovers, the park is a must-visit destination, as it is home to over 550 different species, including the largest bird in the world - the Maasai ostrich. Despite its small size, Tarangire National Park is renowned for attracting some of the largest animals in the region. As the sun sets, we will return to our hotel in Arusha for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Arusha
Depart for the Lark Plains, Birding the Lark Plain and We start the Second Leg of the tour driving East Words into the Dry Masaai Steppest, which is full of a bunch of special dry country birds, after several birding stops, we will check in at the hotel near Same Village for dinner and overnight
Day 4: Same village-Mkomazi National Park
Begin your day by driving to Mkomazi National Park, where you can explore the dry country bushes around the South Pare Mountains for bird watching. Spend the remainder of the day in Mkomazi National Park, taking in the scenery and enjoying a locally sourced lunch. While bird watching and photography will be the primary focus, you may also catch sight of some mammals. Conclude your day with dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 5: Mkomazi Natioanl Park-Usambara National Park
Enjoy a birding trip to the high elevation of the South Pare Mountains in the morning to see the endemic South Pare White-eye, followed by a mid-afternoon drive to the West Usambara Mountains for more bird-watching and photography opportunities. Stay overnight at a hotel and have dinner.
Day 6: Derpature
Sunrise game drive thereafter you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro airport and connect to an international flight back home.
