The unforgettable 4-day Lower Zambezi Safari combines nature, culture, and relaxation. Take a scenic boat ride on the Zambezi River, watching local fishing and enjoying the views.....
Kafue National Park is the oldest and largest park in Zambia , covering about 22,400 square kilometers with outstanding wildlife biodiversity. With its attractive variety of landscapes, from lush floodplains to dense woodlands and expansive savannas, it offers habitation to diverse wildlife that includes Elephants , Lions , Leopards , cheetahs, and rare antelope species.
The dry season, starting in May to October, is considered the best time to see wildlife in Kafue because animals congregate around sources of water, and foliage is thinner. Weather in June and July is pleasant because it is cooler.
Cultural experience abounds on a Kafue National Park tour: interacting with the local tribes like Kaonde, Nkoya, and Lozi; experiencing village visits; traditional music; dances; storytelling of ancient tales; and displays of handiwork skills by local artisans in weaving baskets, wood carvings, etc.
Accommodations vary in Kafue National Park: the luxury includes Shumba Camp, Ila Safari Lodge, and Mukambi Safari Lodge; the middle class has Kaingu Safari Lodge and Mayukuyuku Bush Camp. Those with small budgets will enjoy more rustic camps, like McBride's Camp or Fig Tree Bush Camp, while there is also the opportunity to go self-catering or mobile camping on one of the public sites.
Wildlife viewing in Kafue National Park is very diverse: lions, leopards, and cheetahs in the Busanga Plains, elephants, and buffalo near rivers. Wild dogs and pangolins are among the rare species found in the park. Various antelopes can be found, including sable, roan, and red lechwe. The park boasts over 500 bird species, which include the Goliath heron and African fish eagle. Visitors often get to see hippopotamus, crocodiles, zebras, and monkeys, making the safari quite complete and safety tour.
Kafue National Park proffers a variety of excursions for all types of adventure. Game drives (day and night) provide excellent wildlife viewing, while walking safaris offer a close-up nature experience. Boat safaris and canoeing down the Kafue River allow hippo, crocodile, and bird sightings. There are over 500 bird species for bird enthusiasts, and anglers enjoy bream and tigerfish sports.
